Hi..Dear Gurus, I am very interested in implementing SMS client . But I have a few question to ask u.

1)Is smsclient can be installed in Windows ?? I ask this because I find to get a modem work on my Linux Box

2)Is there any Linux Version that proven to be able to installed smsclient ? Which Vendor/Version for example Red Hat 7.0 8.0/ 9.0 or Fedora Core1, 2 and etc?

3)I failed to get my modem work with my Linux box, FC2. May I know is there any Recommended Modem Hardware confirmed to be work on Red Hat 8,9, FC1, FC2 ?

4)Is the telco in all over the world support this function. I am now in Singapore, the Telco name here is Singtel and Starhub. Do they support?

it can be installed on any from the source.
Redhat and Fedora all have prebuilt packages for them to in stall.
I don't know about other distros.

I beleive you would need to use the mobile operators SMS centres. I dont
know much more than that about the Singapore services.

It works by making a phoen call to a Mobile operators SMS centre which
will then (normally) handle all the routing to the correct place.

SMSClient will take a message, make the phone call and send it to the SMS
Centre.

You will need to find out from your operator, what number to use and what
protocol.

Hi.. I have installed modem successfully in FC2 linux
and installed sms_client without problem.

I tried to type the following

FC2# sms_client 6596632000 "TESTing"

I heard the modem dialing stop a while and disconnect
65 is the country code and 96632000 is the mobile
number that I want to send sms messaage to.

But it gives me the following error

Dialing SMSC 0640900139
Warning: read () timeout
Total Elapsed Time: 32 Sec

May I know what does it mean? I did not receive any
sms at all.

I want to know do I have to contact my telephone
provider (my phone line) in order to send sms, or do I
need to check with mobile phone company that I need to
send to and configure properly
